Do You Think The “War on Drugs” Is Nonsense?

Question: Do You Think The “War on Drugs” Is Nonsense?
The drug crisis in America has not gone down. Many kids have access to marijuana, esctasy, and other hardcore drugs then a decade ago. People are doing drugs at a much younger age.

The War on Drugs has done nothing good; except prosecute the abusers and not the source of it all. If we really wanted to end the drugs we would have ended it a long time ago. All the meth labs in Columbia, Mexico, Honduras are still in operation. I guess it’s cause fines and arrests are a necessity for the police and government to have work.

If you legalize drugs then your prisons are no longer overcrowded and you don’t need as many prison guards. You dont need as many police or judges. These people have unions, (well judges don’t)

So when you say that the War on Drugs hasn’t done any good, I have to answer that with saying that it keeps these people employed. Would you really want someone that is working as a prison guard, serving you food at your fast food restaurant??

What do you think of the DEA and the “war on drugs?”?

Question: What do you think of the DEA and the “war on drugs?”?
I think the FBI, CIA and the INS want to keep drug consumption very high so they keep getting money to fight this “war.” The best policy in dealing with narcotics is legalization, regulation and tax it. Look at the Dutch policies with respect to soft drugs.
We do not have the death penalty for drug trafficking that violates the 8th amendment.
John- what are “attics”
read this article, also know The Natherlands has low stds, low violent, crimes and low sex crimes brecause of their policies.

The WOD is like the War on Poverty… it’s not winnable… and, yeah, wouldn’t surprise me if they were doing their best to help people get the drugs, then busting some of them, so they can show that they’re ‘doing their job’…

Pfo: I knew I could count on you as our acting Government Apologist. Which government agency do you work for, anyway? Don’t tell me it’s the FDA.

I think it’s bogus. They assume that ending the war on drugs will also automatically end all the bad things associated with drug use. It seems too convenient to their cause and unrealistic.

Do you think the Government uses Pot as a tool to keep the “War on Drugs” going strong?

Question: Do you think the Government uses Pot as a tool to keep the “War on Drugs” going strong?
Basically I’m suggesting that the Government WANTS to keep pot illegal so those who buy and smoke pot will be in and around environments that will encourage other substances? Secretly hoping the user will “succumb” so “The War On Drugs” (a 30 Billion Dollar War) can continue?
Imagine the damage the drug market would feel if all of their “pothead seedlings” were cut from that “soil of potential drug use”. Then the government wouldn’t be able to keep their ridiculous (War on Drugs) campaign going so strong.

What are your thoughts on this argument?
Elitist Snob…
It is the blind folks like yourself who don’t even bother to look at the questions presented… If you were paying attention to my question you would have had a much better answer then your unoriginal play on words. For this question isn’t about smoking POT or NOT. It’s about the control tactics our government enforces.
Lee B on the other hand has successfully taken consideration to this question and has provided a very sound answer. Nor does he indicate if he is a pothead or smokes pot since that aspect of this question is irrelevent.
