Most of the crime is done by drug cartels who gain money by selling drugs which are illegal in the U.S.

Absolutely not. Soldiers fight wars not cops.

If it really was a war, it would be over soon. Drug dealers would not have a chance against a real army. But it’s not really a war. The politicians just like to imagine that it is.

It’s Mexico’s problem until the dealers cross the border. Then it is our problem. We should vastly increase their cost of doing business.

Question: Has New Mexico taken the first step to in making a positive contribution to the “war on drugs”?
I’ve often said that to really fight a “war on drugs”, the money must be taken out of it by legalizing it under government control, production and distribution thereby taking the first step in eliminating drug dealers and drug cartels.

I was in High School when Nixon declared the war on drugs in 1972. Seems it hasn’t worked too well yet despite the billions of dollars spent. I agree that the government should control the drug business and stop the crime. I just read today that Canada purchases kilos of pot for 300 and sells them for 130 plus tax for 30 grams to the medical users. That’s quite the mark up.

Question: How does the current “War on Drugs” in Mexico affect Canada?
Many people believe that Canada and the US should be helping and this week’s meeting between the Mexican President and the Cdn. PM Stephen Harper in Ottawa should clear it up. Can anyone provide a streamlined version of “how it started” and “how Canada is affected” ? Please and Thank You. :)
