True or False… The US Government cant stop the “War on Drugs” ONLY because they would have to fire cops?

Question: True or False… The US Government cant stop the “War on Drugs” ONLY because they would have to fire cops?
ending the war on drugs would save us billions in money from NOT funding the war on drugs anymore ALONG with also adding BILLIONS on top of that from Legalizing and taxing Marijuana

Now my question is THE ONLY REAL REASON THEY CANT STOP IS BECAUSE THEY WOULD EFFECTIVELY BE TAKING AWAY 80% OF “WORK” FROM COPS WHO WOULD NEED TO BE LET OFF DUE TO NOT BEING NEEDED WITHOUT THIS HUGE REdikULIOUS WAR ON DRUGS
Most lives that are destroyed in court are done so on NON VIOLENT offenders

while we DONT HAVE ENOUGH ROOM FOR RAPIEST AND MURDERERS? THIS IS ASS-BACKWARDS.
April showers… they would not want a job where they cant impose their will over others.my father is a cop and its a trait most of them have in common. they could not be in a position where they cant be telling everyone what to do
Steelsink- You give a Straw-man argument, then say imprison more citizens who would NOT rob you(young kids smoking weed) if they saw you alone in the street. Then say bring more cops.

thats one of the worst plans i have ever heard i hope you where kidding.

Do you think the Government uses Pot as a tool to keep the “War on Drugs” going strong?

Question: Do you think the Government uses Pot as a tool to keep the “War on Drugs” going strong?
Basically I’m suggesting that the Government WANTS to keep pot illegal so those who buy and smoke pot will be in and around environments that will encourage other substances? Secretly hoping the user will “succumb” so “The War On Drugs” (a 30 Billion Dollar War) can continue?
Imagine the damage the drug market would feel if all of their “pothead seedlings” were cut from that “soil of potential drug use”. Then the government wouldn’t be able to keep their ridiculous (War on Drugs) campaign going so strong.

What are your thoughts on this argument?
Elitist Snob…
It is the blind folks like yourself who don’t even bother to look at the questions presented… If you were paying attention to my question you would have had a much better answer then your unoriginal play on words. For this question isn’t about smoking POT or NOT. It’s about the control tactics our government enforces.
Lee B on the other hand has successfully taken consideration to this question and has provided a very sound answer. Nor does he indicate if he is a pothead or smokes pot since that aspect of this question is irrelevent.

What are your thoughts on this argument?

please note: This question is NOT about whether or not Pot should be legalized or what you like to eat when you have the munchies!
This question is about the controlling tactics of our government. What the Government does to continue following practices that maintain control over the public -and- maintain excuses to spend tax dollars on “PROXY CAUSES”

Please your thoughts, examples, and considerations “for” or “against” this argument are appreciated.

TELEVISON IS WORSE ON THE MIND THAN MARIJUANA!!!!!!!!!
illegalize television and and chill with a blunt. Best entertainment ever.

The government Knows pot will open the minds of people turning them into flower children and people who keep the peace.
They discovered drugs That are worse than pot to say “if u smoke weed, u will move onto harder drugs and ruin your life.” They this to make pot look bad, but its not bad if it keeps the peace.
Do they not want peace?
Plus i can go to work high on weed with no problem. Fully funtional. But no one can work drunk, or on meth or shrooms and whatnot.
I think they are focused too much on the New World Order.

Was Reagan’s “War on Drugs” a great way to downsize government?

Question: Was Reagan’s “War on Drugs” a great way to downsize government?
–Especially creating such a gigantic criminal justice infrastructure and government jobs sucking off the tax payer teat?

Was this at odds with his “Welfare Queen” and “government bad” speeches?
-Welfare reform would have to wait over a decade later under Clinton.
But thank goodness for all those extra government, tax payer funded jobs and the poor tucked safely away in tax dollar prisons…continuing for decades.

While spending countless billions funding puppet regimes and CIA coups abroad.
oh Brother, Clinton was just doing the Reagan Bush regimes a favor pardoning all those cocaine dealers,
Importing coke to the US is a great way to fund Contras, don’t you know?

If Republicans are all for “small government”, what’s with the “War on Drugs”?

Question: If Republicans are all for “small government”, what’s with the “War on Drugs”?
…Who is the government to come in and say that a PLANT is illegal and you are a criminal for growing it and a criminal for what you choose to put in your own body?

Who is the government to build massive amounts of jails and a criminal justice beurocracy just to house political “criminals” ie NON violent drug offenders (50% of jail population),
diverting the police and investigators attention away from REAL criminals, like murderers, child molesters and rapists?

And filling our court houses with BS red tape?
Is this all to create government jobs
and kill two birds with one stone, the poor are sedated and have drugs to sell, and when caught, are housed in jails keeping the unemployment rate low while creating more jobs for government workers?
Phil: unfortunately, that’s not a real answer,
That’s a coward’s way out of the major contradictions of your party,
Small government is not starting a “war on drugs” ie “war on american citizens”,
beefing up military with massive spending so we can go on world policing adventures.
Patrick, You too.
Now try answering the question,
how do you think “small government” and a “war on drugs” is at conflict since we never even had this problem before criminalization <1940's?
Wendy: A typical anti-intellectual repug ad hominem because you have NO ARGUMENT WHATSOEVER,
your party's supposed platform is a damn sham,
prove otherwise.
Susi:
Do you know why your argument falls flat on it's face?
Because guess what hun,
Half are ALREADY STONED ON DRUGS.
KC V: That 50% are catagorized as NON VIOLENT DRUG OFFENDERS.

the minimum manditory for selling the "distribution" amount is in actuality very small and what good do you think it does to put these people in jail for as long as MURDERERS?
IT HAS FAILED. THERE IS ALWAYS ANOTHER ONE TO TAKE THE PLACE.
the fact of the matter is that, although we punish these non violent drug offenders as if they were actually murderers,
hell, sometimes they get LONGER sentences than murderers,
the problem has only worsened and that's the fact.
KC V: furthermore, the argument of it being 'dangerous or addictive' falls flat on it's fact since alcohol is much more dangerous than ANY drug and cigarettes are not only dangerous, but nicotine is as addictive as heroin.
