San Andrés: A roadmap to peace
A message from Peter Stucky, President of the Colombian Mennonite Church:
"At
the end of February of this year, 110 persons: Colombian church leaders, speakers,
and international observers gathered together on the Island of San Andrés,
Colombia to consider the role of the Protestant churches in confronting the
nearly 60 year old war and in building a holistic and lasting peace in Colombia.
The Summit
produced a position statement with a roadmap for action. In the document the
church leaders ask the international community to be vigilant that the
policies of their countries not fan the flames of the armed conflict in Colombia,
but rather promote actions that will help us build peace. For this
reason we ask you to be a part of the Days of Prayer and Action for Peace in
Colombia on May 21 and 22. International solidarity is very important to
us. We thank you sincerely for your interest and for your willingness to walk
with us."
